Hello There!
When the air turns crisp and the days grow shorter, there’s something special about slowing down and filling your home with the cozy scents of fall. This week, Kyle headed out to the property to take care of a few chores, and I stayed home working on a few of my favorite fall DIYs. There’s just something about this season that makes me want to slow down a bit, make the house feel warm, and add those simple touches that bring comfort to our days.
The gentle scent of cinnamon, clove, and fresh ginger filled the kitchen while I mixed up a couple of homemade cleaners and brewed a pot of my favorite warm autumn tea. It was one of those peaceful, slow mornings that make home feel extra special.
After mixing up the cleaners, I poured myself a cup of tea and sat for a moment, watching the sunlight dance through the kitchen windows. It’s amazing how small, simple things like that can turn an ordinary day into something meaningful.
Warm Autumn Tea
This tea has quickly become one of my favorite fall drinks. It’s cozy, a little spicy, and full of flavor — the perfect thing to sip on while the air outside starts to turn crisp.
Ingredients:
- Fresh ginger slices
- Apple slices
- Whole cloves
- Cinnamon sticks
- A mix of Lady Grey tea and cinnamon tea
The combination smells heavenly and adds a comforting warmth that’s both relaxing and energizing.
Not only does it taste amazing, but it’s full of health benefits too. Ginger is great for digestion and immunity, while black tea is rich in antioxidants. The cloves and cinnamon bring a natural sweetness and warmth that feel like a hug in a cup.
DIY Fall Cleaners
Along with the tea, I made two simple homemade cleaners that leave the whole house smelling fresh and seasonal.
All-Purpose Cleaner:
Mix distilled water, 91% Rubbing Alcohol, and a few drops of essential oils. I love using orange, cinnamon, clove, cedarwood, and vanilla for fall — it smells like a cozy kitchen after baking.
Glass & Mirror Cleaner:
Combine distilled water, alcohol, and then add your favorite bright scent. I like to use the same ones I put in my all-purpose cleaner. I try and match the seasons with the smell combo. It cuts through smudges and leaves mirrors sparkling.
I love knowing exactly what’s in my cleaners — no harsh chemicals, just natural ingredients that get the job done and leave our home smelling clean and inviting.
As the day went on, I could still smell the faint mix of cinnamon and citrus from the cleaners while sipping the last of my tea. Slowing down to make these things by hand gives me peace of mind — knowing the ingredients are safe, the house is fresh, and it smells like fall always makes me feel better.
A Moment of Gratitude
As the afternoon faded, I felt thankful for simple, everyday moments. Brewing tea, mixing homemade cleaners, and keeping our home cared for reminds me that God shows up in the little things — and that peace and beauty can be found in a quiet, ordinary day at home.
Lord Bless You, Michelle
