Little Glimpses of Home
There’s something so special about walking into a space that’s slowly becoming home. Lately, every time we show up at the house, it feels like a new surprise is waiting on us. Over the past few days, they’ve been installing our kitchen cabinets, and seeing them in place has just been… surreal. The pantry cabinets are in, and our master bathroom vanity has been set, and I find myself just standing there, taking it all in.
After months—honestly probably six months or more—of planning, measuring, drawing, and talking through every little detail with our cabinet maker, it’s finally coming to life. And I’ll be honest, there were plenty of moments where I didn’t fully understand it all. I just trusted the process and kept moving forward.
Now? I see it. And it’s beautiful.

We’ve been working with a local cabinet maker here in Bethel Springs, and they have done such an incredible job. Every detail feels thoughtful, and everything fits exactly the way it should. And that’s one thing I would say to anyone building or remodeling—if you can, go with custom cabinets.
Even if it costs a little more, it is so worth it.

There’s no wasted space. Every little nook and cranny is used. You don’t end up with those awkward gaps between appliances or odd empty places that just don’t make sense. Everything is built to fit your home specifically, and it just makes such a difference.
One of my favorite pieces so far, though, is in the guest bathroom. Instead of a traditional vanity, we’re using an old antique washstand. It has so much character and charm, and I just love the idea of mixing something old with all the new. It feels like it brings a little story into the space.
While all the beautiful things are happening inside, outside is… well… a different story. 😊
They’ve been working on our septic system and putting in the field lines, and let me tell you—our yard is a mess right now. Trenches, dirt piles, and tracks everywhere. It’s definitely not the pretty part of the process. But it’s a necessary one. And honestly, it’s been interesting to watch. There’s so much new technology now compared to years ago when we dealt with field lines before. Things have definitely improved, and it’s been neat learning along the way. One thing we were especially thankful to find out—we have really good soil. And around here, that is a blessing.

If you’ve ever dealt with that thick red clay, you know exactly what I mean. It gets everywhere, stains everything, and is not friendly when it comes to gardening. So hearing that we have good dirt just made my heart happy. It feels like one more little confirmation that this place is going to be something special—not just a house, but a place where we can truly grow things… in more ways than one.
That’s really what this whole season has been. Piece by piece, it’s all coming together. Things that once felt confusing are starting to make sense. Spaces that were just ideas on paper are now rooms we can walk through and touch. And for the first time, it really feels like we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
It won’t be long now before we’re able to move in. And that brings with it so much excitement—and honestly, a lot of relief too. Being able to sell the house we’re in now will be such a blessing and help us move fully into this next chapter. We know there will still be a few small things to finish—trim, window casings, little details here and there—but the big, heavy work is almost behind us. And that feels really, really good!
I find myself just standing there sometimes, looking around, and quietly thanking the Lord.
For His provision.
For His timing.
For this place we’re getting to call home.
It’s been an adventure—but oh, what a beautiful one it’s turning out to be!
Lord Bless You, Michelle
P.S. I would love for you to let me know what you think about the cabinets so far!
